Biography
Sofia Goetz started the violin at the age of three with the Suzuki method under the guidance of Virginia Ceri. After obtaining the Suzuki diploma, she entered the class of Yulia Berinskaya and Enkeleida Sheshaj at the age of 10.
She completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2019 at Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, under the guidance of Caterina Carlini with top marks and honours, and a Master’s degree in 2021, under the guidance of Gabriele Baffero also with top marks, honours and honourable mention.
In 2019 she began studying under Pavel Berman at the Perosi Academy in Biella and became a member of the Perosi Academy’s Musical Talents Orchestra.
In the same year she won the audition as an academician in the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, having the opportunity to play in the renowned Theater with the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala, performing in the most important concert halls in Italy and abroad.
In 2021 she began a Master in Music Performance at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste studying with Ilya Gringolts and Anna Gebert. She began studying baroque violin under the guidance of Monika Baer.
In 2021 she won auditions for the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.
In 2021 she was selected to play with the Gustav Mahler Academy and the Samnium Orchestra at the Vienna Musikverein.
In 2022 she become a member of the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, playing in Switzerland and Germany.
In 2023 she began collaborating with the Chamber Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
In 2024, she began a temporary contract with the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala in Milan as a violinist.
In 2024, she continued her studies at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Zürich, beginning the Pedagogical Master’s degree.
She has worked with some of the best conductors playing with professional orchestras such as the Filarmonica del Teatro alla Scala of Milan, the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, the Lucerne Contemporary Orchestra, the Zürcher Kammerphilharmonie in Zürich, the Arte Frizzante in Bern, in the most important theaters in Italy, in Switzerland and abroad.
She has attended Masterclasses with important musicians such as I. Grubert, F. Manara, L. Marzadori, J. Commerford, M. Yamada, J.Repko, O.Dantone, W. Reiter. In 2021 she won a scholarship for Maestro Ilya Gringolts Masterclass at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
She regularly collaborates with national and international festivals and associations, with solo recitals and chamber/orchestral programmes of all kinds. Among the most important: Lucerne Festival, Enescu Festival, Società Del Quartetto, Società Umanitaria, La Società dei Concerti, MITO, Fondazione Ambrosoli, Serate Musicali.
In 2021, she won the Zurcher “School of Commons” association’s call for a research project, beginning her academic research path in the artistic field, with the intention of working on the listening tension and on the creation of more inclusive and innovative musical programs. Working on the idea of more inclusive and innovative musical programs, in 2022 she created the festival “The No Way Experience”, with a series of different musical events based on the mixing of styles, contexts, and concert situations, ranging between early, classical, popular, contemporary, and pop music. Every event in the first edition was sold out.
She also works as a composer, writing and producing the opening theme of the talk show “Just Talk”, by the leading company in its sector 4BILD. In 2021 she composed, produced, and recorded the jingle and the soundtrack for the series “4BILD: Imprese”, ranging from rock to classical and pop music.
As a teacher, she has worked as a violin teacher at “Il Sistema”, a musical didactic model, conceived and promoted in Venezuela by J.A. Abreu, doing both individual lessons, chamber music and orchestra lessons. She has also worked as a violin teacher at the Brunacci School in Milan, the Dedalo School in Milan, the School78 in Zürich, the Schweiz School Musikpädagogischer Verband in Zürich.
She is also specializing to become a Suzuki Method violin teacher.
Sofia is a scholarship recipient from the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, ZhdK Circle of Friends of Music, the Bruno Schüler Foundation and the Lyra Foundation.
